Did you know yellow toenails are a clear sign of toenail fungus?
While not immediately painful, toenail fungus can get to the point where it hurts when you walk.
If you don’t treat it, it won’t just go away on its own and it actually starts spreading to your other toenails or other parts of your body!
And you might even end up with a scary doctor visit where the toenail has to get removed.
Don’t risk it!
Try these methods to get rid of toenail fungus before it becomes a serious issue.
#1 Listerine
Listerine isn’t just for killing bad breath. If you’ve got the amber-colored one, you can use it on your toes to get rid of fungus, just like these Tweets recommend:
TIP OF THE DAY: Listerine 4 toenail fungus. Soak ur toes n listerine mouthwash; antiseptic leaves ur toenails healthy again.

— Frank Massaro (@Frank__Massaro) March 22, 2010
Twitter users Frank and Lori aren’t wrong.
Listerine’s ingredients include menthol, thymol, and eucalyptus, which are known for their antibacterial and antifungal properties.
A good 30-minute soak every day should have your toenail fungus cleared up in no time.
#2 Vinegar
Chance are you’ve got vinegar in your cupboard and its antiseptic properties could be the key in battling toenail fungus.
Here's a home remedy for you. Got toenail fungus? Soak your feet in white vinegar and voila--toenail fungus be gone!

But be sure to minimize the risks of topical treatment by soaking your foot in a mix of one part vinegar, two parts warm water for no more than 20 minutes a day.
#3 Vicks Vaporub
Vicks Vaporub is known to help relieve sinus congestion when you have a cold or the flu but, as these Twitter users note, the menthol can also help with toenail fungus.

Menthol has powerful antibacterial and antifungal properties.
A study found 83% of its participants responded well to rubbing Vicks Vaporub onto their infected toenail.
#4 Oregano Oil
Here’s one that might surprise you—oregano has thymol as one of its medicinally active ingredients and studies have shown thymol as a powerful antifungal.
Just had a conversation with a fabulous older man about how oregano oil killed his toenail fungus

Grabbing your shaker of dried oregano from your spice rack and sprinkling it over your toes won’t work, of course.
You’ll want to get oregano oil, so you can rub it onto the infected toe and get rid of the fungus!
#5 Tea Tree Oil
If you’re an essential oils fan, you might have this one lying around. Otherwise, you might not be as familiar with tea tree oil and its fungus-fighting ways.
